Physician Profile
Mr. Muddassar Hussain
Mr. Muddassar Hussain
Mr Hussain has a particular interest in the assessment and management of men with lower urinary tract symptoms, especially those resulting from benign prostatic enlargement and bladder outlet obstruction. He provides a comprehensive assessment of urinary symptoms and works with patients to identify the underlying cause and determine the most appropriate treatment, ranging from conservative and medical management to minimally invasive and surgical interventions.
He has extensive experience in the surgical management of benign prostatic enlargement and offers a range of treatment options tailored to the individual patient and the size and characteristics of the prostate. These include Aquablation therapy, an advanced minimally invasive robotic treatment that uses a precisely controlled waterjet to remove obstructing prostate tissue. Mr Hussain was co-investigator in the WATER study, the first randomised controlled trial of Aquablation to include UK centres, which enrolled patients between 2015 and 2016 and was published in 2018, contributing to the early evaluation of this innovative technique for men with urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate.
Mr Hussain is actively involved in clinical research and education. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and delivered podium presentations at national and international meetings.
Combining extensive specialist training, academic achievement and experience in both conventional and advanced minimally invasive techniques, Mr Hussain is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care. His particular focus is on helping men with bothersome urinary symptoms understand the cause of their condition and access the most appropriate treatment, while continuing to provide specialist care for patients with complex urological problems.
