Mr. Christopher Anderson

Mr Christopher Anderson is a consultant Urological Surgeon with a general Urological practice as well as a specialist interest in renal and prostate cancer. In his general Urological practice, he manages lower urinary symptoms from enlarged prostates (BPH); voiding and bladder problems; urinary infections; scrotal conditions, and haematuria, (blood in urine). In the robotic surgery realm, he has specialist expertise in robotic prostatectomy and renal surgery. Where surgery is indicated, he is a keen proponent of Aquablation for large benign prostate (BPH). He was an integral member of the team that pioneered robotic surgery in the UK in 2005. He introduced the robotic surgery programme to St George's Healthcare in 2008, where he was the lead robotic surgeon and taught numerous consultants and Fellows. He completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Universities of Stellenbosch and Cape Town, South Africa. He did fellowships in the USA at Cleveland Clinic, Henry Ford Hospital, and Jackson Memorial Hospital and in Germany at the University of Leipzig. He is an Honorary Professor at the University of Cape Town. At his NHS hospital (St Georges) he developed a renal unit that offers a full spectrum of renal tumour management. He has particular expertise in the management of small renal masses and was the first in the UK to perform laparoscopic Cryotherapy (2004), and Firefly Immunofluorescence in Robotic Partial nephrectomy (2013). He is a frequent Faculty member at international conferences and is well-published and a reviewer in peer review journals.
